Sounds like most of the dead are the suicide bombers themselves. In the video I've seen the blasts looks pretty small.

Indonesia is mostly Sunni as far as I know, so it couldn't be that.
Just the usual ISIS/jihadi idiocy probably. Indonesians aren't 'real Muslims' because they don't have long beards and the women don't wear black tents.

Until your post I hadn't realised that Djakarta was only 150 miles from England, that it was familiar to most British people and that Indonesia is a close ally and fellow member of the EU.

Nothing to do with Sunni Shia.
Just the government is sane and democratic and therefore an enemy of Daeesh. In eyes of Daeesh they are probably worse than "the West" because they are Muslims but don't support Daeesh.

Indonesia is one of the more tolerant Islamic countries, as such, they are fairly mild in their persecution of non-Muslims and the death toll of those in minority faiths is smaller than lots of other places.
As for Polite's point, I think he's right. An Oriental Muslim getting blown up in Jakarta is as much as tragedy as a French non Muslim getting killed in Paris.
